Our very uncomfortable encounter with a state vet.

The raw milk community across the entire USA is being harassed in one way or another.
The Raw Farm in CA is constantly targeted EVERY SINGLE YEAR since they are the biggest raw milk farm in the world.

There’s another farm in TX fighting for their raw milk freedoms too

And this is only the tip of the iceberg.

So to say I’ve felt on edge myself is an understatement.

Always watching my back for someone to come knocking at my door.

And honestly, after the unfortunate events we went thru with Elliot’s “family”, I was having a little bit of PTSD from thoughts of any type of legal matter or confrontation.

So, it was the day I picked up my meat birds.

I had come back from Torrington from grabbing some supplies.

As I was pulling into my farm, the state veterinary was pulling out.

I did make contact with him, and he was very nice and just wanted to let me know that near the hatchery that my chicks came from, there was a bird flu outbreak.
I made some calls and did some reasearch.

Yes that was true there was an outbreak near by but my research I conducted stated that the bird flu cannot live on or in eggs that are being incubated so a hatchery has close to zero risk of having a bird flu outbreak.

I have surveillance around my entire farm. I saw he wandered around to where I had some birds and he could see my cows.
He left with a snide comment, pointed to the backyard, “with having a dairy those cows could get the bird flu too”

I did not want a fight or to raise a stink so I simply said that they will not be anywhere near the chicks we just brought in.

I really thought he would be back to harass me.

But that was months ago and no harassment has happened.

Thank God.

Cause that’s what it would be...

Harassment.

Now, with being in the Raw Milk Institute Community where a farm was targeted and was forced to shut down for MONTHS. I know from this farm and their team conducted several studies and no human ever got sick, ever. Their cows showed very little symptoms of sickness and on any dairy farm, cows who show even the slightest bit sickness or “off”ness, are not put into the milk tank for human consumption.
